Galaxyway AI is developing the research plan for a long-term initiative focused on artificial intelligence for the Igbo language.

Current stage: Planning & Research. Galaxyway AI has not yet trained or released a proprietary Igbo AI model through this programme.

Where the project stands today

Current work focuses on understanding existing research and datasets, defining the technical problem, identifying appropriate collaborators, designing evaluation methods and determining a responsible research pathway.

Core research question

Can specialised data, dialect-aware evaluation and model adaptation materially improve AI understanding and speech for Igbo?

Proposed research scope

Research landscape, language and speech data, dialect representation, baseline evaluation, evaluation framework, model adaptation experiments, evidence-dependent prototyping and native-speaker validation.

Better language AI depends on better data

Dataset provenance, consent and licensing will be reviewed before data is used for training or commercial development.

We do not intend to build this alone

The programme is seeking appropriate research, linguistic, community, data, technology and innovation collaborators.
